Phillips sixth and 10th in Small Town Throwdown at SSMC

Back in action at Sweet Spring Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo.), Waylon Phillips kicked off his Fourth of July weekend on Saturday at Missouri oval pulling double duty for the annual Small Town Throwdown.

With qualifiers on Saturday leading up to Sunday's features, Waylon came in fifth in his Stock Non-Wing Micro heat while fading to seventh in his Non-Wing Outlaw Micro heat. After sitting out a weather delay, Phillips broke in his Stock Micro qualifier while finishing ninth in Outlaw Micro qualifier.

On Sunday, Phillips raced his way into the Stock Micro main event with a convincing heat win before going seventh-to-third in his Outlaw Micro heat. Transferring into a qualifier, Waylon locked his spot into the Small Town Throwdown main event with a runner-up finish. Moving forward in both features, Phillips followed up a 16th-to-10th run in the Stock Micro A-Main with a sixth-place run in the Outlaw Micro 40-lap feature.
